Why come to the fair?

The fair provides a long-term incentive for German students to excel as they prepare throughout the year for the fair.
This incentive is heightened when schools require student to try out for the fair team, which is often necessary because of limitations on the size of the team.

The fair also provides a cultural experience through the Kleindeutschland midway and a short program. Every participant receives a frameable certificate with their rating in the competitive events. In addition, the best participants in each venue are recognized for an "Outstanding Presentation" by announcement in the closing assembly, a special certificate, and a ribbon. In group events, all participants will receive individual certificates and ribbons.

The fair contributes to the esprit-de-corps of your program as all students work together to represent the school well. Although (by teacher choice) there is no direct competition among schools, the students do notice the schools that receive Outstanding Presentation recognition and have a quality booth in Kleindeutschland.

The fair represents an opportunity for students to use the language in the wider world and to feel a sense of progress. A variety of events provide for different kinds of language use and cultural knowledge ranging from memorized performance to spontaneous conversation.

Finally, graduating seniors can take BYU's computer-based placement test to see what course they should register for in college.
